Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 12, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Kenneth Sieu ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use Scout, a mobile application for discovering and sharing photography and videography spots (the "App"). By using the App you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

2. Device permissions

The App may request access to your camera, photo library, and approximate location while you are creating a spot. These permissions are used only to let you select or capture the photo for a review and to suggest nearby spots; you can change them at any time in your device settings. The App does not track your location in the background.

3. Photos and location are public

Spot coordinates and review photos you submit are shared publicly within the App so other users can find and view spots. Do not submit content you want to keep private, and avoid sharing the precise location of sensitive, private, or protected places (private property, sensitive wildlife habitats, and similar). We remove EXIF metadata (including any embedded GPS data) from uploaded photos before storing them; the spot location is the coordinate you provide, not your device's location.

4. How we use information

5. Service providers

We rely on third parties to provide the App, including Google Firebase (authentication, database, and file storage) and the Google Maps Platform (geocoding and nearby place lookups). These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-app advertising or tracking.

6. Data retention and account deletion

You can delete your account from within the App. When you do, we delete your user profile (including your email, display name, and profile photo) and the underlying authentication record. Reviews and photos you contributed are retained as community content but anonymized — they are detached from your identity rather than removed — so that shared spot information remains useful to others.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. You can exercise core rights directly in the App (editing your profile, deleting your account) or by contacting us at kkennethsieu@gmail.com.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards provided by our infrastructure (encryption in transit, access controls, and managed authentication). No service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and respond promptly to any incident that may affect it.

9. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at kkennethsieu@gmail.com and we will delete it.

10. International users

The App is operated from the United States, and information we collect may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, additional notice in the App.
